Portfolio and resume reviews from a design leader who has grown two UX teams

I’m Jeremy Abrams. I’ve spent 13 years in product and design. I led UX at Prosper and Anthem, ran my own consultancy for seven years, and I’m now building a new company. If you’re a mid-career designer heading into a job search, I’ll show you how a design leader reads your portfolio and resume, and what to fix first.

“Jeremy is one of the best design leaders I’ve met, and he takes mentorship seriously.”

I’ve grown two UX teams: from 3 people to 10 at Anthem, and from about 10 to 18 at Prosper. Over my four years at Prosper, 94% of the people on the team stayed, and 9 were promoted.

Since 2022 I’ve also mentored more than 20 designers through MentorCruise, on portfolios, resumes and the job search itself. Their reviews are below.

For four years I was Senior Director of UX at Prosper, where I led the team in building the company’s first company-wide design system, for financial products used by millions of people. The work that team did was part of projects that returned hundreds of millions of dollars to the company. Before that I was Director of UX at Anthem (now Elevance), running UX across five products and three scrum teams.

Alongside those roles I ran a six-person UX consultancy for seven years, working with Fortune 500 companies, healthcare systems and startups, and growing revenue 50% a year. Earlier I founded a startup that made the Techstars Chicago finals, and worked as a product manager and a UI designer. Law school came before all of it.

I left Prosper in October 2026 to found a new company.

I was introduced to Jeremy through a recommendation from one of his other mentees, and I’m so glad I reached out. He’s an incredible listener who knows when to challenge you and push you toward growth. During some difficult situations at my work, he consistently gave thoughtful, actionable feedback that helped me navigate them with more confidence and clarity. One of the things I appreciated most was how comfortable and safe he made our conversations feel. I always felt like I could be honest about what I was experiencing without fear of judgment. Drawing from his years of experience as both a designer and a leader, he helped me work through challenges in a practical, grounded way. If you’re looking for a mentor who genuinely listens, provides honest and tangible guidance, and creates a space where you can grow both professionally and personally, I highly recommend working with him.

I sought Jeremy’s mentorship when I was burdened with some challenges in my previous role. His years of experience was evident in how tangible and actionable his feedback was, and it was perfectly balanced with an incredibly empathic approach that made me feel safe and understood. Prior to our meetings, I was stuck and lacked direction in my career. As our sessions progressed, he inspired, motivated, and challenged me in ways that helped me overcome many career obstacles. I’m extremely grateful for his mentorship and I truly believe anyone will find value in his expertise and guidance.

Jeremy was an exceptional mentor. He was incredibly supportive, knowledgeable, and patient. What really stood out was how he took the time to break down complex topics into understandable bits; it really helped me gain clarity on my path. Initially, I had no idea what I was doing, as I was struggling with Product design foundation, but working with him gave me direction. I am deeply appreciative of his guidance. I would definitely recommend him to others looking for mentorship.

How a session works

  1. Book and share

When you book, you answer a short intake form: your target role and level, your links, and the one question you most want answered.

  2. I read your work first

I review and annotate your work before we meet. Every 60-minute session includes this.

  3. We talk it through live

We meet on video. I show you what I marked up and we decide what to fix first.

  4. You leave with next steps

Each session ends with your written fix list and a suggested next step, usually a 30-minute follow-up after you’ve made your revisions.

Questions

Who is this for?

Mid-career UX designers who are job hunting, or about to start, and want a senior design leader’s eyes on their portfolio or resume.

What should I prepare?

Each session lists what to send when you book. At a minimum, have your portfolio or resume ready, plus the role and level you’re targeting.

Can I reschedule?

Yes. You can reschedule up to 24 hours before your session, and once inside 24 hours.

What happens after the session?

You can send me one follow-up question by email within 7 days.

Will you redesign my portfolio or rewrite my resume?

No. I review and advise, and you make the changes. In a resume review we’ll work on weak bullets together during the call.

Why pay when free portfolio reviews exist?

Free reviews start cold. I read your work first, so the call starts with what to fix, and you leave with it in writing: a recording, a top-5 fix list within 24 hours, and one follow-up question by email within 7 days.

What if I need to cancel, or the session isn’t useful?

Cancel up to 24 hours before your session for a full refund. Inside 24 hours, you can reschedule once; no-shows aren’t refunded. If you leave a session without a clear list of what to fix, email me within 7 days and I’ll refund it.
